About Haru: Japanese and Korean Market
A new era for a Carytown favourite
A small daily reminder to begin again, with joy.
Haru is the evolution of well-loved Toyko Market, a staple of Carytown shopping. After a brief closure, Haru is coming back with a new owner, new name and new offerings.
Haru, plays off the new products, as “haru” has meanings in both languages.
We’ll carry the existing products Tokyo Market is known and loved for, as well as expand the products on offer to continue sourcing quality goods from Japan and Korea.
Our Philosophy
Every day is a fresh start. That's the spirit behind Haru — from the Japanese haru (春), meaning spring, and the Korean haru (하루), meaning a single day. Koreans often say haru haru: living one day at a time, and finding something good in each one.
We believe in that quiet optimism — in noticing what's easy to overlook, in the small joys that make an ordinary day feel worth something. It's why we care about beautiful, well-made things: not because they're precious, but because they belong in daily life. A good cup. A well-folded cloth. Something you didn't know you needed until you saw it on our shelf.
Come browse, discover, take your time. One day at a time — haru haru.
